... where friendship is more than a name!

Ethnic Fellowships

Friendship Church is a multi-racial, multi-cultural church, which keeps our regular worship services diverse and vibrant. However, we also offer additional worship and study opportunities in several traditions.

The African Fellowship

The African Fellowship began as a Friday night Bible study in May 2003.  In July 2003, the fellowship expanded to an African-style worship celebration on Sunday afternoons.  The fellowship has members whose cultural heritage is from various nations in Africa and who wish to maintain the sense of community and  fellowship they experienced in worship in their native countries. This also helps to instill in their families a tie to their cultural heritage.

The worship features drums, singing both African traditional and American songs, dancing and prayer as God is worshipped in the African tradition.

Those interested in the African Fellowship are invited to attend worship at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.

The Gujarati Indian Fellowship

The Gujarati Indian Fellowship has been in existence at Friendship Church for over twelve years.  Worship is conducted in the Gujarati language, one of the languages of India, the second Sunday of each month at 5:00 p.m. at the church.  Worship is led by The Rev. Timothy Rathod.  The fellowship also has a Friday night Bible study in Gujarati which meets at members’ homes around the Chicago area.  Further information can be obtained from Rev. Rathod at (847) 864-9637.
