Bruce Inglis is a member of Friendship United Methodist Church who has served as a lay minister in Russia for many years. He makes annual trips to Russia to help start churches in that country. In addition, Bruce has a traditional Christmas Card ministry to the Russian people. During November, our members had the opportunity to send Jesus-centered Christmas cards with a clean $5 bill made out to "My Dear Christian Russian Friend" with a note of encouragement in Jesus. This year we collected $725.00 for this mission. Bruce tells us that the Russians are very thankful for your personal love for them. Bruce gives the cards out at their local Christmas party. Bruce explains that "for 70 years under communism the Russian people were not allowed Christmas parties, only ungodly drunken New Year's parties. Now they love Jesus and His beautiful Christmas songs. Praise our wonderful God! Pray for them. You make the difference!" In addition, Bruce collects used eyeglasses and hearing aids which can be repaired and given to people in Russia who need them. There is a box for your donations in the foyer of Friendship Church or they can be dropped off in the Church Office. Russian Update from Bruce Inglis -- early Fall 2001 On July 4th, 2001 the Russian pastors had their first baptism in Razan, a city of 1 million people south of Moscow, where we began new churches this past winter. Through July, August, and early September they are very busy baptizing in all of the areas where we have churches in Russia in the lakes and rivers. Another big blessing was the 21-day Christian summer camp for children. The parents and the grandparents helped pay the expenses. Please pray that each Russian Church can have a nice children's Sunday School. I am getting ready to go back to Russia in November, if God is willing. Last year Bible Truth Publishers sent 8,000 Joyful News Gospel calendars, but I ran out early. This year they sent 12,000, so they should be there when I arrive. Here are some other ways that you may want to help the Russian pastors, and churches:
