Friendship United Methodist Church is a long time supporter of the Bolingbrook FISH organization. This is one way we work within our community to help others. Each month, usually on the second Sunday of the month, we bring food for those in need and donate it through FISH. What is FISH? Bolingbrook FISH is an organization of volunteers concerned about the needs of others. The purpose of Bolingbrook FISH is to provide a means by which people committed to Jesus Christ can respond to Christ's teachings about providing food, drink, hospitality, clothing, help, and human fellowship to people in need of these. (Matthew 25:35) Our mobile and rapidly changing society often creates feelings of alienation and isolation, a sense of not knowing where to turn for help. The services available through FISH can ease that feeling. How FISH Works FISH employs a 24 hour answering service. When a call for help comes in, the answering service takes the name and phone number of the caller and tells him that his call will be returned by FISH. The phone volunteer on duty is contacted and returns the call to see if we can help. The volunteer may serve as a listening post, give information about community and government resources, or call on other types of FISH volunteers. What Can YOU Do?
