Friendship Church has had an active ministry to the
homeless and poor for a number of years. We began with quarterly trips to
Olive Branch Mission in downtown Chicago where we provided dinner on
Sunday nights 4 times a year. Looking for a more on-going effort, we
switched to supporting a similar effort in our backyard. We now work with DAYBREAK
Shelter in Joliet, Illinois, which serves Will County's homeless
population. Under the guidance of Catholic Charities from the Diocese of
Joliet, DAYBREAK also works with local area churches and community groups
in an ecumenical effort to serve those who need help desperately. On the
third Friday night of each month, and the following Saturday morning,
members and friends of Friendship Church provide meals for Friday night
dinner and Saturday morning breakfast to those living at the DAYBREAK Shelter.

How can I help with Friendship's DAYBREAK
Ministry?
Do you feel called to help with our ministry to the
homeless at DAYBREAK Shelter? You can help by donating food or by helping
to serve at the shelter when Friendship Church provides meals. Sign-up
sheets are available each month in the Information Center in the church
lobby.
Each month our information center has two sign-up sheets
for DAYBREAK:
-
Depending on the menu planned for the month, a list
of food products needed is provided. You may sign up to donate all or
part of the food items needed. Food items will need to be brought to
the kitchen at Friendship Church by 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, 2
days prior to our scheduled DAYBREAK ministry.

You may sign-up to help serve dinner on Friday nights
